System Administrator
JPB IT Solutions is a software company with locations in Holland and Cyprus. For our Cyprus location we are looking for a system administrator.
The company is part of the JPB Group, a group of companies in logistics (warehousing and tank storage), industrial services, medical (hospitals) and sustainability (installation of solar voltaic systems and development of solar voltaic parks). The companies of the JPB group have a high level of automation. Almost all automation systems are developed, implemented, and maintained by JPB IT. The immediate goal is to expand the functionality of Coredata and to further market CoreData within the same and new sectors both in the Netherlands, Cyprus and other European countries. Coredata
JPB IT develops a headless web application named Coredata. Coredata is an ERP system with a completely new approach to the user interface. Coredata can be used in logistics companies, (technical) service companies, hospitals, production companies and many other sectors. It interfaces with machines (meters, weighbridges, flow meters, etc) as with other applications (mainly financial and logistical systems). Coredata is build in a front end – back end structure. The front end application, built in Vue.js, is served by an API developed in Ruby and Ruby On Rails. In the building processes there is a focus on following a micro services architecture.
At JBP we make use of open-source server applications as well as desktop environments, solely based on Linux. A system administrator at JPB would perform (but not be limited to) the following duties:
- Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service for our 7 physical locations.
- Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments.
- Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions
- Proactively monitor system performance and capacity planning.
- Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware.
- Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.
- Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
Requirements for this role are:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar relevant degree.
- Knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.
- Hands on experience with server-side virtualization on platforms like Proxmox/VMware.
- Familiarity with server hardware components and networking infrastructure hardware.
- Knowledge of Shell, BASH, and/or Python scripting.
- Knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
- Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantage
- Strong problem solving and communication skills
